Easter Eve Watermelon Hunt

Last night I was a bunch of friends and I met at a friends house and then went hiking (again a ton of fun).  Afterwards we were invited to stay and join them in watching Rouge One (the newest Star Wars Movie; # 3.9).   There were 2 rules, #1: No talking & #2 Bring your own snacks.  I had asked God on the way back from hiking if I could get some snacks (mostly for others as I didn't really have much of an appetite).  I primarily asked because I didn't have any money in my budget for them, but I knew if God allowed me, He would provide and have it covered.   He told me I could spend up to $10.   As I was leaving their house to run into the nearest grocery store just down the road I asked a friend what he wanted and he replied with "Watermelon." . . .

Now there's a bit of a story there too.  My friend was leaving to go do something and was going to be back close to the end of the movie for some prayer time afterwards.   I had asked him if I could get him a snack, what would he want.   He thought "watermelon.  I'd really love some watermelon.  But where is he going to find any watermelon???" but wasn't going to say it.  However God kept telling, "just ask him (me)."  So he did. . . .

Now I heard "watermelon" and thought that was a great idea.  I drove up the the nearest grocery store but they were closed.  I thought that strange but I knew there were several grocery stores a few minutes further down the road.  They too were closed.  It didn't occur to me until now that it is Easter and a Sunday evening: almost no stores are open.    None the less I asked God to lead me to a store that had watermelon.   He took me on a path that I had never been on before.   He took me right through downtown Kitchener and through to the other side of the city, then he curved me back and took me on a zig zag path.   I felt lost and was going to pull up my GPS.  I was pretty sure there weren't any big grocery stores in the general area I thought I was in, and if they were they would be closed.  Yet I kept hearing God tell me where to turn.  Turn right here, turn left at the light, turn right, turn left, etc...   Then I ended up at a small convenience store.  I looked around and they didn't have any watermelon - I didn't expect a small convenience store to have fresh fruit, particularly watermelon at this time of year.   As I was walking out I felt the Holy Spirit prompting me to just ask the cashier.  So I did, and they didn't have the best english, but I talked to them for a bit to confirm what I was talking about: watermelon.   Then the wife smiles and says, "yes I have in back, just put in freezer."  I said, "no, no I'm looking for fresh watermelon."  She said, "yes, yes it's fresh."  I thought 'okay, if it's not fresh I don't have to buy it,'   As she's about to go back she continues talking, "I just bought one for me."  I quickly replied, "no, no I don't want to take your's. I want it if your selling it. I don't want yours."  To which she replied to, "I bought two, one for you."  She went back and brought out a whole watermelon (I was expecting a few slices).   They only took debit and cash and my debit card works as a credit card in Canada, so I couldn't pay.  God had me go over to another store which had an ATM and He had me withdraw $40.   As I was going back I saw a guy that looked homeless, about to get back on his bike.  I felt God leading me to give him my extra $20 I withdrew.  He was very grateful.  tTen I was able to go in and bought the watermelon and took it back to our friend's house.  My one friend who had requested it was quite surprised and happy when he got there to find the watermelon.  It's wasn't the best melon, but it was still watermelon.   God is soo good!
